Midpoint Reflections

Cycled into Panama City today marking the completion of one entire continent. After spending 8.5 months living from my bike I've gotten lots of new skills and lost others. Here are some that I've gained: fixing anything with duct tape and zipties, bargaining for goods and services, a sixth sense for sketchy people, sleeping in places I'm not supposed to, the ability to eat anything with a spork. Here are skills I've lost: AutoCAD, loading plotter paper, personal boundaries with strangers.

San Francisco and Los Angeles

Dates for San Francisco and Los Angeles. Come out to ride some miles or just say sup!

Friday, October 21st - 9pm at El Rio in the Mission (I might have like 1 or 7 beers)

Sunday, October 23rd - 10am depart from Dolores Park for Los Angeles - 9 day ride to LA (look for the weenie in the super tight biking shorts!) Bring yo friends and come ride. There’s a good chance to make it into a 2 hour loop near Pacifica. OR just stop by to say hi and take a photo.

Thursday, November 3rd - 8PM at Angel City Brewery

Sunday, November 6th - 10AM departure for San Diego - 3 day ride to San Diego: Leaving from Tommy Trojan at USC.

Also if you want to do a full leg we can put it together! Just send me a message. It’ll be an easy pace of 60 miles a day - nothing too crazy. The bike route follows the coast along highway 1 which is supposed to be so nice.

Special thanks to:

Greg Browning and Sheela Sands - Greg gave me a ride in Prudhoe Bay and put me in touch with Sheela who turned out to be a wealth of information for Juneau, AK.

Pastor Jeff Steeter - has a beautiful chapel at Dot Lake, AK. He has four foster kids and three of his own. They live 50 miles from the nearest town so Pastor Jeff can drive bobcat, hunt all types of game, and operate a sawmill. He even let me stay in his airstream trailer for a night.

Lisa - We talked on the phone a few times in Haines. She has lived here for sometime and knew all the best local adventuring.

Jess - reporter at the Petersburg Pilot who asked interesting questions and is an all around great guy.

Bill Tremblay - delicious beer battered halibut dinner from SE waters.

Anyone else I don’t have a photo of but has shown me kindness. So much faith in humanity when you ride a bike cross-country.
